Norberto Bobbio

Norberto Bobbio (Turin, 1909 – 2004) was both a witness and a protagonist among the most eminent figures of the 20th Century. His vast body of writings contributed to the shaping of Italian political and legal culture of his time and beyond. The influence of his intellectual and moral teaching was and remains even greater than his scientific production. He was a man of dialogue, who through the rigour and clarity of his interventions succeeded in involving not only international scholars in the debate over public issues, but also many citizens for whom he became the symbol and critical conscience of civil Italy.

Remembering Norberto Bobbio in his centenary year – 1909-2009

To mark the 5 th anniversary of the Professor's death, the Rivalta Bormida Town Council organized a remembrance ceremony.
Representatives of the Town, the Province of Alessandria and the Piedmont Region attended the ceremony.
The following contributors presented papers, provided here in Italian:

The celebrations were opened with the release of the programme in the presence of political representatives of the Piedmont Region, the Province and City of Turin, and a remembrance of the figure and teaching contribution of Bobbio through the acknowledgements of scholars and intellectuals who had a personal relationship with him.
Some of those present were: Gastone Cottino, Sergio Roda, Paolo Garbarino, Marcello Gallo and Pietro Rossi. This initiative was organized under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, with sponsorship by the Minister of Culture, the Piedmont Region, the Province and City of Turin and the contribution of the University of Turin and the University of Piemonte Orientale "Amedeo Avogadro".
